MADFUN’s most elegant and visually captivating deck yet, these playing cards are adorned in quintessential Indian aesthetic. The tuck boxes shine with brilliant gold-foil embossing, while each card within features custom-designed faces and delicate gold accents.
Karma Playing Cards features the 'Endless Knot', an emblem of the unbroken cycle of Karma and the interconnectedness of cause and effect. This sacred symbol recurs throughout the design, where the four classic suits—spades, hearts, clubs, and diamonds—are artfully woven into the Karma motif, creating striking visual harmonies.
The back design bears the Sanskrit verse 'Sarve Karmavasha Vayam' from the Mahabharata (13.1.65), meaning 'We are all bound by Karma.' At its center coils the Ouroboros—an ancient serpent devouring its own tail—symbolizing the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth. It is entwined with creeping vines like the unseen threads of Karma, silently weaving cause into consequence.
The Virtue and Vice Jokers embody the duality of good and bad karma, brought together in a Karmic Balance—a symbol of the ultimate judgement. The lotus, blooming amidst it all, represents the soul’s journey from suffering to spiritual awakening.
Karma playing cards are produced by MADFUN and designed by Hardik Singh a.k.a. Cretalyst, a Delhi-based design artist and a passionate collector of playing cards. He became fascinated by the Jain philosophy of karmic continuity which led an exploration resulting in this playing cards deck. In his own words, "It’s a timeless concept captured in a timeless format — a piece of art that felt destined to be created."
